I've been a bit silent as of late. I have no excuse other than having gotten caught-up with the usual business of this season. Late nights at work, trying to keep-up with lawncare and gardening and home repairs, and spending a wonderful weekend with both of our Dad's on Father's day--our first "real cookout" at our new home.
In any event, the gardens are looking wonderful and we're still finding new surprises tucked into corners all over the property.
The blue hydrangeas are in full bloom in the side yard. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, colorful bush. We've already taken vases of cut ones to work and kept some in the house and the bush just keeps producing. I believe there are three more of these plants out in the back field that I hope to transfer to the front of the house.
There was a medium-sized hydrangea out by the garage in the back yard. We weren't sure exactly what color it'd turn out to be. Turns out it's a purple one, which I've never seen...
The clematis (a housewarming gift to us), which wasn't very happy with the wet soggy weather we were having, has perked-up again. It has two blooms right now and a half-dozen more buds. I'd really like to see it get well established this summer so it'll make it through the cold New England winter.
I absolutely love having a big backyard and I'm very thankful for all of the beautiful plants the previous owner left behind. It's making my first year of "real gardening" so much more pleasurable.
